A Message From The CEO

Dear Member,

With economic uncertainty on the rise—including the effects of increasing tariffs and higher prices on everyday essentials—it’s only natural to feel some concern about what lies ahead. Many families are taking a closer look at their budgets, searching for ways to cut costs and strengthen their financial future.

At Horizon Credit Union, we want you to know: we’re here for you—just as we always have been.

As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our mission is to serve you—not shareholders. We’re financially strong, federally insured, and built on the foundation of people helping people. While we can’t control global economic trends, we can help you take control of your personal finances.

One way we’re doing that is by offering our members the opportunity to refinance high-interest loans from other financial institutions. If you’re carrying a credit card balance, auto loan, or personal loan with a higher rate, we may be able to help you move that debt to Horizon Credit Union—at a lower rate. This could mean real savings, lower monthly payments, and less stress.

Whether you’re hoping to reduce your interest costs, simplify your payments, or get a fresh start, our team is here to help you explore your options. It’s just one more way we’re standing beside you during uncertain times.

Thank you for being part of our credit union family. We’re proud to serve you—and we’ll continue to be the steady, reliable financial partner you can count on. Together, we can build a stronger future.

Thank you for your membership,

Page Bennett

Farmington Building Update

The new building in Farmington is moving forward. We were able to use the parking lot for our Shred Event on June 21st, which was a big success. Members were excited about it and started lining up at about 9:00 AM. The shred truck was scheduled to be there at 10:00 AM but got there early and we were able to start before 10:00 AM. Having both entrances open for that day helped with the traffic flow and it was great to let our members see the exterior of the building.

The night view of the building will be beautiful as well. The lights around the entry way and the drive-thru will pop. The landscape is in and taking root. We are still on track to have this completed this year. We are excited for the future of Horizon Credit Union.

Bird Dog Sandwich

Crispy chicken tenders, bacon and a smokey, sweet and tangy sauce puts a spin on your classic summer dog.

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 2 tbsp smokey barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

For the Sandwiches

  • 4 extra large breaded chicken fingers/strips/tenders (or enough to fill a standard hot dog bun)
  • 4 thick-cut bacon slices, cooked and crisp
  • 4 brioche hot dog buns
  • romaine or iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • red onion, thinly sliced
  • dill pickles, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. For the sauce, whisk all the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl. Cover and place in the fridge while you prep all the other ingredients. (double the sauce if you want extra)
  2. Cook the chicken strips according to package directions or personal preference. Toast the buns lightly.
  3. Cook bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches – spread the sauce on both insides of the bun, add the chicken strip(s), bacon slices, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickles.
  5. Finish with a turn or two of cracked black pepper on top and any extra sauce.

Air Dry Clay Seed Mosaic Budget-Friendly Craft

A fun craft for the family to decorate the garden. Total estimated cost: $32.00

Materials

  • white air dry clay (Crayola brand)
  • beans and seeds (grocery store/garden center)
  • rolling pin
  • cookie cutters, bowls, cups, anything to help you make your desired shapes
  • knife or cutting tool
  • acrylic sealer spray (mod podge, clear)

Instructions

  1. Roll out the clay with a rolling pin about 1/4 inch thick. You’ll want it rather thick so it doesn’t break easily. Cut out a shape and run your finger around the edges to smooth it out. (You can make lots of different shapes – a ladybug, flower, snail, spider, etc.)
  2. Push beans and seeds down into the clay – make sure they’re pushed securely down or they’ll easily pop out once the clay dries.
  3. Let the clay dry for 3-4 days (according to the instructions for your air dry clay) in a dry place.
  4. Once they’re fully dry, bring them outside and spray them with an acrylic sealer spray.
  5. Allow the sealant to dry then carefully flip them over and seal the underside and all of the edges. Repeat spraying the front until it is fully and completely coated.

Tips: Don’t spray them inside! Also, the seeds are loose, don’t mess with them too much until you seal them. Spray at a close but not too close of a distance. Place items on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper for easy transport and mess free spraying.
