1. Sponsor
This promotion is sponsored by Horizon Credit Union (“HCU”), hereafter referred to as the “Sponsor.”
2. Promotion Description
The Teen Quarterly Scholarship provides eligible participants the opportunity to win one (1) $500 12‑month Certificate of Deposit (CD) by completing qualifying account activities and submitting an essay during the promotional period. The winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries.
3. Promotional Period
The promotion is conducted on a quarterly basis (“Promotional Period”). All qualifying activities and essay submissions must be completed and received within the applicable Promotional Period to be eligible.

4. Eligibility
- Promotion is open to teen members of Horizon Credit Union who meet all account eligibility requirements established by HCU. (13-17 years of age)
- Winners account must be in good standing*.
- Employees of Horizon Credit Union and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and members of the same household) are not eligible to participate or win.
- Volunteers of Horizon Credit Union and immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and members of the same household) are not eligible to participate or win.
- Promotion is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
- Winners of any Horizon Credit Union give-a-way style promotions in the past year are not eligible.
5. How to Enter
To receive one (1) entry, participants must complete at least one (1) of the qualifying activities below during the Promotional Period and submit the required essay:
Qualifying Account Activities (choose at least one):
- Make $50 or more in net deposits during the Promotional Period.
- Net deposits are defined as total deposits minus total withdrawals posted during the Promotional Period.
- Eligible deposits are defined as deposit into shares, checking or money market type account.
- Open a new checking account with a debit card.
- Open a Certificate of Deposit (CD) with a minimum opening balance of $50.
Essay Submission Requirement:
- Participants must submit an essay by responding to the designated essay topic provided by HCU.
- Essays must be submitted in the manner and format specified by HCU and received within the Promotional Period.
- Essays are required for entry only and will not be judged or scored.
Limit one (1) entry per participant per Promotional Period, regardless of the number of qualifying activities completed.
6. Prize
- One (1) prize will be awarded per Promotional Period: a $500 12‑month Certificate of Deposit.
- The CD will be issued under HCU’s standard CD terms and conditions in effect at the time of issuance.
- The prize is non‑transferable, has no cash value, and may not be substituted except at the Sponsor’s discretion.
7. Winner Selection
- The winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received during the Promotional Period.
- Selection is not based on the content or quality of the essay.
- Winner will be selected the following month after quarterly promotion ends.
- Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
8. Winner Notification
- The winner will be notified using the contact information on file with HCU within a reasonable time following the drawing.
- If the selected winner is deemed ineligible, fails to respond, or cannot accept the prize, an alternate winner may be selected.
9. Taxes
Any federal, state, or local taxes associated with the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
10. General Conditions
- Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the promotion at any time if circumstances arise that could compromise fairness, integrity, or proper administration.
- By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final.
- Sponsor’s failure to enforce any provision of these rules does not constitute a waiver.
11. Privacy
All participant information will be handled in accordance with HCU’s privacy policy and applicable law.
*Good standing: Account not in dormant status; accounts do not violate any membership terms and/or agreements. Loans on account cannot be in delinquent status or in violation of its loan agreement. Contact information is current. May not have caused Horizon Credit Union a loss.
